year Three
Commute
My pre-collection during the first semester of year three saw me actively problem solve through fashion. Millions of us in Auckland tag onto public transport each year, and there are many identifiable pains. Commute is three iterations of the ideal coat for the Auckland commuter. Addressing these pain points and responding to them through supermodern fashion, with evident historical ties like the Mackintosh coat brand and the British WWII anti-gas cape.
Hive
I designed and created Hive in my final semester of industrial design. It is a modular micro-needle nutrient patch system, designed for people suffering from the lack of effective nutrient absorbency as a result of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. IBD patients are a greatly underserved community, especially in New Zealand, and the consequences of malnutrition can be life threatening for this group. Hive offers a sustainable and easy, pain-free way of getting daily nutrients without the abdominal pain and endless supplements.

RECONNECT
a capsule collection promoting human reconnection and digital mindfulness
Reconnect is a three look, eight garment collection that utilises technical patternmaking and considered design to respond to a growing societal problem. Humans are becoming increasingly disconnected while our online presence grows. My work encourages human connection through intentional seaming and garment openings, such as those found on the rear of garments, including zips, pockets, and buttons.
I have also integrated a modular theme into my work, providing everyday garments that are intentionally layered, along with ‘utility panels’ which button on and offer personalised utility. These panels are universal throughout the collection and invite the idea of co-wearing, this shareable utility further promotes human connection.
